Our Pledge to Consumers

Environmental Health Officers will assess all applications for the Only The Best award, and visit the business to check the premises, systems and documentation to ensure it meets the required criteria before a business is granted the Award.

Maintaining Standards

This process will be repeated during every future routine programmed inspection of the business when the award can be renewed if the business continues to meet the necessary standards.

To ensure standards are maintained between programmed inspections Environmental Health Officers will make periodic checks of the premises.

Investigating Complaints

We will also investigate complaints about food hygiene and customer service in accordance with our policies and procedures, and respond as soon as possible. If we substantiate a complaint we will take appropriate and proportionate action in line with our policies, and let the complainant know what the outcome is.

If a complaint reveals minor breaches of the law or conditions of the Only The Best Award we will give the business an opportunity to rectify the problems within a reasonable period of time.

If a complaint reveals serious breaches of the law, or the conditions of the Only The Best award, we will revoke the award for that business. We may also take further action in accordance with our enforcement policy (pdf).
