About the Award

The media is full of scares and horror stories about food and so-called “restaurants from hell”. Such stories cause concern to consumers and businesses alike. At Wealden District Council we wanted to address this in a positive way by rewarding the best and safest food businesses in our area.

Only The Best aims to promote those businesses that have achieved excellence in food safety and customer care. We believe this public recognition is good for the consumer and the business. Consumers can make informed choices about where they eat and buy food, knowing an Only The Best business meets rigorous standards front of house and behind the scenes. Businesses that gain the Only The Best award receive public recognition for their high standards. Hopefully this will translate into increased custom and higher standards throughout food businesses in Wealden.
