Award Conditions

To receive the award you must meet the award criteria. To keep and display the award, and to use the logo in any advertising or communications, you must meet with the following conditions:

1. You will comply with the Only The Best award criteria at all times.

2. You will respond to any changes in food safety legislation, and comply with the letter and spirit of the law and current guidance on good practice.

3. You will provide us with details of ownership, changes of management, and any documentation you are required to keep to meet the award criteria when requested.

4. You will display the Only The Best award sticker in a prominent position in your premises for customers to see.

5. You will not attempt to mislead customers or restrict their statutory rights.

6. You will give us at least 14 days notice in writing if you wish to leave the Only The Best award scheme.

7. You will give us at least 14 days notice in writing if you intend to close the business.

8. You will give us at least 14 days notice in writing before you sell the business to a new proprietor.

9. You will give us at least 14 days notice in writing if you propose to make significant changes to your business, premises or practices that may affect your compliance with the Only The Best award criteria or these conditions.

10. The Only The Best award applies only to the premises and proprietor specified. It cannot be used in any way that implies other businesses you own, or within your organisation, have received the award or meet its criteria and conditions.

Your Only the Best application will only be accepted and assessed if you complete the appropriate box on the application form. By doing so you are agreeing to maintain the criteria and conditions of the Award.

If you leave the award scheme, close your business, or sell it to another proprietor you must inform us in writing and return the Only The Best award certificate and sticker to Wealden District Council. You also agree to stop using the Only The Best logo on any communications or advertising before the sale is completed. Failure to do so may constitute a breach of the Trade Descriptions Act 1968.

Please note that the Only The Best award certificate and sticker remain the property of Wealden District Council at all times. You can only use the logo in communications and advertising if you meet the award criteria and conditions.

We will investigate all complaints about hygiene and customer service in accordance with our policies and procedures. We will inform you of our findings and whether we will take any further action.

Should we withdraw your Only the Best award or should you disagree with any of our decisions you can contact the Appeals Panel in writing within 21 days for reconisderation. You will be allowed to continue displaying and using the Only The Best window stickers and logos whilst your appeal is in progress.
